Togo: Gnassingbe reeleito

Faure Gnassingbe, the son of a late dictator, beat the opposition leader Jean-Pierre Fabre, the election commission said. He won 1.2 million votes out of two million cast, according to officials, while Fabre won just 692,584. But Mr Fabre claimed victory in the election, and accused the vote of being “illegal”. He alleged irregularities in the vote-counting system and said that "everything the electoral commission is doing is false". It came after Jean-Claude Codjo, a member of Togo's electoral agency, walked out of a meeting in protest at what he called a "lack of transparency". Daily Telegraph A afluência às urnas foi de apenas 40 por cento; e assim a dinastia Gnassingbé se perpetua no poder, que conquistou em 1967.
