The Cobra, de Frederick Forsyth, a sair no Verão

In a White House meeting in 2011 a covert concordat is struck to destroy the vast world-wide cocaine industry. The man chosen is a former head of Special Ops for the CIA, Paul Devereaux, nicknamed The Cobra. His project study has already told him his enemy is the now-unified Colombian cartel La Hermandad, the Brotherhood. For his right-hand man he chooses the only agent who ever outwitted him, the former Tunnel Rat Cal Dexter (the hero of Avenger). For a year he and Dexter make their plans, slipping into place their sleepers along the Colombian coast, marking their targets, identifying the big players, charting the traffick routes, co-opting the Special Forces and equipment they will need. When he is ready the Cobra strikes with lethal speed at the Brotherhood. Ships, crews, cargoes simply disappear. Cocaine airplanes take off but never land. A wave of arrests sweeps the USA and Europe. Entire crime cultures collapse in chaos. Then the Brotherhood strikes back with their legendary ruthlessness, creating a landscape of dead bodies. It seems as if the forces of law and order are winning at last. But there are still two brutal twists to come…
